I am so excited.  I'm getting prepared for my first major art exhibit in Fort Worth, TX  Jan.2010 and reception is Jan. 8th.  The location will be at the Fort Worth Community Arts Center:  http://fwcac.com/?exhibitions/future_exhibition (this will take you straight to it).  One thing is for sure, I'm in overdrive with a list of things to do,  not to mention just getting done with Christmas.  I'm getting a few paintings done also, in which I will be working only at night so I can have some peace and quiet with no interruptions.

Once again I decided to go back to painting florals and take a break from abstract.  I love lilies they are one of my favorite flowers second to roses.  They are full of color and fragrance and I think they bring life to the home and garden. I decided to make the appearance of the lilies a little different with the extra long stem, which is why they look like "Dancing Lilies". Of course I have to put my own swing to it as an artist, so I did the "swirly thing" with the long stems and the grass too, similar to "Leaves of Color" painting: http://denisehallart.com/works/256380.

I would have to say yes, I'm a night painter.  I usually paint in the late night after I put my kids to bed.  I tried painting in the daytime but you know what?  its just to much to do during the day and I can't paint in peace without my precious 2 year-old daughter wanting me to draw shapes and a paint this and that on her paper, so I'm constantly interrupted.  But that's ok, because I just say to myself, "I'll just have to wait until tonight to paint, no big deal." 

I will say I have slacked for almost 2 weeks and haven't painted like I should because I've been so tired and all I want to do is watch T.V., which is so easy to do.  So sometimes I have to push myself to paint, no big deal.  I did however, finish a painting last night that's been staring at me for the past 2 weeks, yea!  All I'm saying is where there is a will there is a way!! 

Go do your thing whether it's night or day!

Two weeks ago I decided to go ahead and walk in my neighborhood and introduce myself as an artist.  This was a small stepping stone because I usually keep to myself, not because I don't want to bother anyone but rather that I'm busy as a wife, mom, artist, chef, housekeeper and whatever else comes to mind. I had been reading, "I'd rather be in the Studio"  by Alyson B. Stanfield and came across the part where you should tell people in your neighborhood that you are an artist.  So I said to myself, "self, you need to get out and meet your neighbors".  Now I have already met and have been talking to a few already, simply because they are next door. But as far as walking around the neighborhood and sliding business cards through the door that is something entirely different for me.  Finally I did it and as a result I met two book authors.  Wow, didn't see that coming! And they were actually looking for someone to design  a cover for their book ( an example of someone who could bring you opportunities in the long run).  So go meet and greet your neighbors, you never know who will meet. "Hello neighborhood!"
